(Web Desk): Another tragic boat accident involving migrants occurred off the eastern coast of Libya, resulting in the deaths of 11 people, including four Pakistani nationals.
According to sources from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the boat capsized during the night between April 12 and 13 near the coastal area of Harawa, close to the city of Sirte in Libya.
The FIA sources stated that, as per a report sent to the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the boat was carrying migrants from Libya to Greece. The bodies of all 11 deceased individuals have been recovered.
The sources added that among the deceased were four Pakistanis — three from Mandi Bahauddin and one from Gujranwala.
A team from the Pakistani embassy visited the city of Sirte in Libya, where they confirmed the identification of the four Pakistani victims.
Pakistani diplomatic officials are in contact with local Libyan authorities to obtain further details about the incident.
