Basic tariff for electric vehicle charging stations has set at Rs23.57 per unit

Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved the government’s request to reduce the tariff for electric vehicle charging stations.
According to the details, NEPRA has set the basic tariff for electric vehicle charging stations at Rs23.57 per unit.
Earlier, the basic tariff for electric vehicle charging stations was set at Rs45.55.
After the tariff reduction, the basic tariff was reduced by Rs21.98 per unit.
A request to remove the capped margin of Rs24.44 on electric vehicle charging stations has also been approved.
It is pertinent to note that under the Electrical Vehicle Policy 2025-2030 of the Government of Pakistan, 3,000 charging stations for electric vehicles are to be built in the country over the next two years.
Two private companies in the country, Malik Enterprises, and Indus Valley, signed an agreement with the Chinese company Adam Groups in collaboration with the Government of Pakistan for the charging stations.
Malik Khuda Bakhsh, owner of the Pakistani company Malik Enterprises, said that the next two years will prove to be revolutionary in terms of the future of electric vehicles in Pakistan.
However, people associated with the automobile industry believe that government plans or announcements cannot be the reason for the increase in the use of electric vehicles in Pakistan. In this regard, the government needs to take concrete and actionable steps.
Under the Energy Vehicle Policy, a total of 30 percent of electric vehicles will be used in the country by the year 2030.
