(Web Desk): Two women of Pakistani origin have been elected as members of parliament in the Canadian elections.
Pakistani-origin Iqra Khalid has been elected to the Canadian Parliament for the fourth time; she secured a lead of over 5,000 votes against her rival candidate, and her lead is expected to grow further as vote counting continues.
An emotional scene unfolded upon her election as she embraced her father in overwhelming emotion.
Meanwhile, another Pakistani-origin woman, Salma Zahid, achieved victory by securing 21,000 votes.
