Lahore: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) recorded a historic collection of Rs23.7 billion in Punjab Sales Tax during the month of April.
According to the PRA spokesperson, this collection is 26% higher than that of April last year.
The PRA collected a total of Rs214 billion in tax revenues from July to April in the current fiscal year, showing a 16% increase compared to the same period last year.
From July to April, Rs199.6 billion was collected in Punjab Sales Tax, reflecting a 14% growth compared to the previous year.
Additionally, under the Punjab Infrastructure Development Cess, Rs5.1 billion was collected during the same period, marking a 23% growth.
In terms of the Punjab Workers Welfare Fund, Rs9.1 billion was collected from July to April, showing a 43% increase.
The spokesperson noted that no new taxes were introduced, nor were tax rates increased during this fiscal year.
This increase in tax collection is credited to awareness through workshops, expansion of the tax net, and effective use of modern IT systems.
Due to effective strategies and advanced technology, PRA is confident it will successfully surpass the revenue target for this fiscal year as well.
