Mehdi has previously served as a member of the upper house (Senate) as well

(Web Desk): Waqar Mehdi, General Secretary of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh and Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh, has been elected as Senator from Sindh on a vacant seat.
Sindh Election Commissioner Ejaz Anwar Chauhan announced the election results.
According to Chauhan, PPP’s Waqar Mehdi secured 111 votes, defeating MQM-Pakistan’s candidate Nighat Mirza, who received 36 votes.
The Election Commissioner also noted that 2 votes were rejected due to incorrect marking.
This Senate seat had fallen vacant following the death of PPP Senator Taj Haider. It is worth mentioning that Waqar Mehdi has previously served as a member of the upper house (Senate) as well.
