This cyberattack is reportedly linked to the Indian threat actor known as ‘SideWinder’

(Web Desk): In view of potential Indian cyberattacks, Pakistan's Cabinet Division has issued an advisory to all government divisions.
According to the advisory, a recent phishing campaign targeting Pakistani officials has been detected. This cyberattack is reportedly linked to the Indian threat actor known as "SideWinder."
The advisory stated that this threat actor has been active in Pakistan for several years. The cyberattacks are carried out using phishing emails specifically aimed at Pakistani officials.
It further mentioned that in such cyberattacks, the name of Pakistan’s sensitive institutions, including the Cyber Security Directorate, is often misused. The advisory recommends training individuals working in various departments to defend against phishing and social engineering attacks.
Additionally, it advises implementing email filtering solutions, malware detection, and spam checks to detect and block phishing emails.
