Peshawar Zalmi announces reward to pays tribute to Pakistani pilots

Peshawar: Pakistan Super League (SPL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi has announced a reward of Rs50 million in a grand tribute to Pakistani pilots who played a prominent role in Pakistan’s successful air defense and counter-attack against India. The announcement came on the occasion of Thanksgiving Day and is being described as a manifestation of national unity.

Peshawar Zalmi Chairman Javed Afridi told Arab News that ‘the unwavering courage, dedication, and sacrifice of Pakistani pilots are our national pride. Today, we are not content with just verbal words of praise but also appreciate their spirit in practice’.

He added that the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) not only thwarted the enemy’s nefarious intentions but also sent a message to the whole world that Pakistan will not compromise on its airspace, sovereignty, and the safety of its people.

It is pertinent to note that India launched an aggression against Pakistan on the night of May 6-7 under the name of ‘Operation Sindoor’ and tried to push the region into the fire of war by blaming it for the Pahalgam attack. However, Pakistan gave a befitting reply to the enemy on May 10 through ‘Operation Bunyan Marsus’, as a result of which five Indian warplanes were shot down. Indian sources have also admitted to the destruction of at least three aircraft.

The reward announced by Peshawar Zalmi is not only being considered a continuation of the patriotic spirit but also a sign that all state and non-state forces of Pakistan stand united for national security.

Meanwhile, due to the recent tensions, both Pakistan and India have temporarily postponed their respective cricket leagues, PSL and IPL, while consultations are underway between the cricket boards of the two countries on holding the remaining matches.
