Traffic police arrested dumper driver responsible for incident


Karachi: A speeding dumper crushed a disabled person in a wheelchair at Steel Mills Mor in Karachi, resulting in the disabled person dying on the spot. Traffic police have arrested the driver.
According to the details, a speeding dumper ran over a disabled person in a wheelchair at Steel Mills Mor in Karachi, resulting in the disabled person dying on the spot.
After the accident, the dumper driver tried to escape, but passersby and traffic police stopped the dumper by pushing their vehicles forward.
Traffic police have arrested the dumper driver responsible for the incident, while angry people who gathered at the scene broke the windows of the dumper.
It is pertinent to note that Karachi has seen an increase in traffic accidents involving heavy vehicles, especially dumpers and water tankers, in recent months.
In 2024, about 500 people were killed and 4,879 were injured. In view of this situation, the Sindh government imposed a ban on the movement of heavy vehicles in the city during daytime hours on February 14, 2025, which was extended for another two months on April 18.
Under this ban, heavy vehicles can enter the city from 11 pm to 6 am, while vehicles delivering essential goods are exempted from this ban.
