Karachi: The federal government has taken a major decision to stop theft of petrol and diesel at petrol pumps.
Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, while talking to the media on the occasion of his visit to the Sui Southern office, said that the Ministry of Petroleum has taken a major decision to stop theft and smuggling at fuel stations.
Ali Pervaiz Malik stated that the government has planned to digitalize the nozzles used to add fuel in the vehicles at the stations.
In response to a question, the Petroleum Minister added that he will request the Prime Minister for domestic gas connections. Local gas is not available, new domestic connections can be made on imported gas.
Ali Pervaiz further said that power plants are not purchasing LNG, due to which the 400 MMCFD local gas supply has to be stopped. The Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) was increased, but currently it does not affect petroleum prices.
When asked about trade with the United States, the Federal Minister for Petroleum said that a committee has been formed to increase imports from the United States.
