Pakistan closely monitoring regional situation, fears sleeper cells could reactivate in Afghanistan: DG ISPR
Rawalpindi: Pakistan is playing its serious role in the Afghan peace process and is keeping a close eye on the fast-changing situation in the region, Inter-Services Public Relations director general Major General Babar Iftikhar said Saturday.

"The sleeper cells of terorrists can reactivate in Afghanistan and could affect Pakistan in the light of recent wave of terrorism, but Pakistan Army is ready to face any danger and counter it in a befitting manner," he told a news channel.
Iftikhar said Pakistan is well-prepared to cope with any untoward situation after the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan.
"All illegal points have been sealed along the Afghan border and the capacity of the Frontier Corps has also been enhanced," the DG said, adding Pakistan Army is supervising the training of police and Levies after the merger of FATA.
Maj Gen Iftikhar said "there are no ago areas in Pakistan."
The ISPR chief termed the allegations leveled by the Afghan deputy president as absolutely wrong and baseless.
Earlier this week, Afghan Vice President Amrullah Saleh had claimed that the Pakistan Air Force had issued an official warning to Afghan security forces to repel any action by the latter to dislodge the Taliban from the border crossing of Spin Boldak.
"I can tell you with confidence there is no measure like this," the Maj Gen Iftikhar said.
He said recently during clashes between the Afghan National Army (ANA) and Afghan Taliban, around 40 Afghan soldiers had crossed towards the Pakistani side in Bajaur.
"They had been given food, respect, gifts and returned with soldierly protocol."
India's interference
About India's role, the ISPR DG said India is perturbed over situation in Afghanistan and is trying to destablise the regional peace. "India is totally frustated, the elements creating unrest in Pakistan are opertaing from Afghanistan."
He said Pakistan has evidence of India's role in Afghanistan and that a dossier was shared in November with the international community.
"The dossier shows how India uses intelligence agencies in Afghanistan to reactivate anti-Pakistan organisations like TTP," the major general said.
Terrorists network busted in Pakistan
He said terrorists networks in Pakistan had been busted and the entire world had lauded the efforts of Pakistan. Iftikhar made it clear that Pakistan did not act even a single time in Afghanistan.
He said all fences on Pakistan's side will benefit Afghanistan as well.
Maj Gen Iftikhar said there have been 150 incidents of terrorism in KP and Balochistan and security forces have carried out 7,500 operations in the tribal districts and Balochistan.
"So far 42 terrorists have been killed in these operations," he said, adding: "Many of our own young men and officers were martyred and wounded."
