Toll tax on non-M-tag, low-balance vehicles on motorways increased by 50pc

Islamabad: The National Highways Authority (NHA) has increased the toll tax on non-M-Tag and low-balance vehicles on motorways by up to 50 percent.

According to the NHA notification, the toll tax for non-M-Tag or low-balance cars on the Islamabad-Lahore Motorway has been fixed at Rs1,800. Between Lahore and Abdul Hakeem, the toll will be Rs1,200, and the toll for a non-M-Tag vehicle on the Pindi Bhattian-Multan Motorway will be Rs1,600.

The toll from Multan to Sukkur has been fixed at Rs1,800. The toll charges for non-M-Tag cars on the DI Khan-Hakla Motorway will be Rs1,000, while these charges will be Rs450 on the Hassan Abdal-Mansehra Expressway.

New charges have also been announced for non-M-Tag and low-balance commercial vehicles. The new toll for two and three-axle trucks from Lahore to Islamabad will be Rs7,900, while the toll tax for articulated trucks has been fixed at Rs10,200.

The increase in toll tax will be implemented from June 15, 2025.

NHA says that this decision aims to make the use of M-tag mandatory and ensure the smooth flow of traffic on the motorway.

The authority says that citizens should install M-tags on their vehicles before June 15 and maintain the balance at an appropriate level to avoid additional charges.
