Death sentence is upheld and rape sentence is commuted to life imprisonment


Islamabad: The Supreme Court has issued a written decision to uphold the death sentence of convict Zahir Jafar in the Noor Muqaddam murder case.
In its detailed decision issued in the Noor Muqaddam murder case, the Supreme Court said that the decisions of both the lower courts are unanimously declared correct. Zahir is not worthy of sympathy; he is the ruthless killer of Noor Muqaddam.
The court decision has stated that the CCTV video, DVR, and hard disk of the physical violence on Noor Muqaddam by the convict are admissible evidence, while no alteration in the video recording has been proven, and the identity of the accused has been confirmed.
The Supreme Court added in its decision that the DNA report confirmed rape, the blood of the victim was present on the murder weapon, and it could not provide any explanation for the presence of Noor Muqaddam.
According to the court decision, the death sentence in the murder of Zahir Jafar is upheld and the rape sentence is commuted to life imprisonment.

Zahir Jafar had tortured and killed Noor Muqaddam in Islamabad in 2021, after which the trial court had sentenced the criminal to death.
