Holiday comes immediately after Eid al-Adha holidays

Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has declared Friday, June 27, 2025, a public holiday to mark the Islamic New Year (Hijri New Year).
According to the government announcement, the holiday will be for government employees, meaning they will have a three-day long weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), with work set to resume on Monday, June 30.
Although the announcement has only been made for the government sector, it is expected that the private sector will also observe the same date, as is often the case in the UAE’s public holiday calendar.
The holiday comes immediately after the Eid al-Adha holidays, which citizens consider a great opportunity to relax at home, take a short trip, or staycation.
