Two more Congo virus cases reported in KP, number rises to 9

Peshawar: Two more new cases of Congo virus have been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, after which the total number of people infected with this dangerous virus in the province has reached 9.

According to the health department, the new cases have come to light from Bajaur and North Waziristan.

According to the health department documents, three cases have been reported from Peshawar, two each from Nowshera and Karak, and one each from North Waziristan and Bajaur. So far, three people have lost their lives due to the virus, while three patients are currently undergoing treatment in different hospitals, and six people have been discharged from the hospital after recovery.

The provincial health department, expressing concern over the spread of the Congo virus, directed to adopt precautionary measures and take protective measures during the movement of livestock, especially in the context of Eid-ul-Adha, when the sale and purchase of animals increased.

Health experts have instructed citizens to wear gloves and full-sleeved clothing when approaching animals and to seek immediate medical attention if symptoms of the Congo virus appear.

On the other hand, symptoms of the Congo virus have been diagnosed in two house officers of Jinnah Hospital, Karachi, after treating a virus patient a week before.

Dr. Shahid Rasool, the executive director of the hospital, has said in this regard that both doctors are suffering from fever and severe pain in the stomach. One of them is isolated at home, and the other one is admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital due to a critical condition.

Moreover, the PCR tests of both doctors have been performed, and the reports will be received in 3 to 4 days. After which, proper medication would be given to them.
