Karachi: The Sindh Home Department has announced a ban on double riding on motorcycles in the province on the 9th and 10th of Muharram.
The Sindh Home Department has issued a notification regarding the ban.
According to the notification, double riding on motorcycles will be prohibited in the province on the 9th and 10th of Muharram.
Children under 12 years of age, elderly persons, and journalists will be exempted from the ban.
According to Pakistan’s National Space Agency (SUPARCO), the crescent moon of Muharram is expected to be sighted on Thursday, June 26, and the 1st of Muharram 1447 Hijri is anticipated on June 27.
A spokesperson said that the new moon will be born on June 25 at 3:32 pm, and by sunset on June 26 (Thursday), the moon will be 28 hours and 15 minutes old. Due to clear skies, the crescent will be easily visible.
The spokesperson added that in the coastal areas of the country, there will be a 75-minute gap between sunset and moonset, providing ideal conditions for moon sighting.
However, if the moon is sighted on June 26, then the 9th of Muharram will fall on Saturday, July 5, and Ashura (10th Muharram) will be on Sunday, July 6.
