Monsoon spell across country, heavy rain hit cities including Lahore

Lahore: Heavy spell of monsoon continues across the country. Lahore, Multan, Sialkot, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, and Layyah received heavy rain.

Rain fell in the areas of Gulberg, Kalma Chowk, and Mughalpura in Lahore. Thunder also occurred in Garhi Shahu and Laxmi Chowk. Clouds formed and rained in the areas of Ferozepur Road, Johar Town, and Allama Iqbal Town, and water accumulated in low-lying areas.

Heavy rain fell in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and the heat and humidity broke. Clouds formed and rained in Hangu, and landslides occurred in various places due to heavy rain in Haripur. Several roads were closed to traffic, clouds covered Karachi, and the weather became pleasant.

Heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning in Kalat, the low-lying areas were submerged. There was a risk of flooding in rivers and canals, NDMA issued an alert of heavy rains and the flood situation across the country until July 10.

Flooding in seven rainy rivers originating from Koh Suleman, moderate flooding in the drain of Shakargarh, and shepherds and cattle trapped in the area were evacuated.

The report issued by PDMA stated that 10 people, including women and children, lost their lives in accidents due to recent rains in Balochistan.
