Step was taken to maintain balance in sugar prices

Islamabad: The federal cabinet has taken a final decision to import 500,000 tons of sugar.
According to the Ministry of Food Security, sugar will be imported through the government sector. All arrangements for the import of sugar have been completed, and immediate implementation is being started.
The Ministry of Food Security says that this step was taken to maintain balance in sugar prices. The method of sugar import represents a different and better strategy than the past. In the past, subsidies were often relied on by creating artificial shortages of sugar.
According to the Ministry of Food Security, the decision to export sugar was made at a time when sugar was available in abundance. Now, sugar is being imported to stabilize sugar prices.
