Punjab forms committee to resolve matter of references against opposition MPs
Sources says if negotiations are successful, PA Speaker will consider taking back references against suspended lawmakers


Lahore: The Punjab government has formed a committee to negotiate with the opposition regarding the references filed against the suspended opposition members.
The members of the committee include Mujtaba Shuja Rehman, Salman Rafique, Rana Arshad, Samiullah Khan, Ahmed Iqbal, Ali Haider Gillani, Shafay Hussain and Shoaib Siddique.
On the other side, the opposition leader Malik Ahmed Khan Bhachar will represent the committee while Parliamentary leader Ali Imtiaz Warraich and President Lahore Shiekh Imtiaz will also be part of the committee.
Sources say the names of Ijaz Shafi and other members from PTI will also be sent to the Punjab Assembly Speaker.
They further say the second session of the negotiating committee between the ruling coalition and opposition will take place on Sunday to decide the fate of the references.
According to the sources, if negotiations are successful, the speaker will consider withholding the references against the suspended members
It it noteworthy that due to the chaos, which happened during the speech of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the speaker had suspended 26 members of the Punjab Assembly.
