The price of sugar continues to increase across the country, including Karachi and Peshawar.
According to the shopkeepers, the sugar is being sold at Rs190 to Rs200 per kg in the retail market of Peshawar. Two weeks ago, the price of sugar per kg in the retail market was Rs180.
Sugar dealers say that the price of sugar per kg in the wholesale market has increased by Rs1. The price of sugar per kg in the wholesale market has reached Rs179. Yesterday, the price of sugar per kg in the wholesale market was Rs178.
Meanwhile, in Quetta city, sugar is being sold at retail at Rs186 to Rs190 per kg, while sugar is being sold at wholesale at Rs183 per kg.
The price of sugar per kilogram has increased by Rs2, reaching Rs180 per kg in the wholesale market of Karachi. While sugar is available in the retail market for Rs185 to Rs200 per kilogram.
It is pertinent to note that the government has decided to import 500,000 tons of sugar to control sugar prices, for which a regular tender has also been issued, while former caretaker federal minister and close aide of Nawaz Sharif, Fawad Hassan Fawad, has opposed the government's decision to import sugar and demanded a review of it.
