Hayley Matthews wins ICC Women’s Player of the Month

(Web Desk): The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the Players of the Month for June 2025.
South African all-rounder Aiden Markram has been named ICC Men’s Player of the Month for his outstanding performance in the ICC World Test Championship Final.
Markram played a crucial role not only with the bat but also with the ball. He took the valuable wicket of Steve Smith with his off-spin and later dismissed Josh Hazlewood as well.
Markram’s brilliant 136-run knock in the second innings turned the match in South Africa’s favor, as they chased down a target of 282 and secured a historic five-wicket victory. This triumph marked South Africa’s first ICC trophy in 27 years.
It is worth noting that Markram was shortlisted for the June 2025 award alongside fellow South African Kagiso Rabada and Pathum Nissanka from Sri Lanka. After the voting process, Aiden Markram emerged as the winner.
In the women’s category, West Indies captain and star all-rounder Hayley Matthews was awarded the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for June 2025.
Matthews earned the honor for her stellar performance in the T20I series against South Africa, where she was named Player of the Series, playing a key role in securing a 2-1 series victory for the West Indies.
Over the three-match series, she scored 147 runs at an average of 73.50 and a strike rate of 120.49. She also contributed with the ball, taking two wickets with her off-spin bowling.
