Maharashtra: At least 110 people have died in heavy rainfalls followed by landslides and flooding in the western Indian state of Maharashtra.

According to details, the rains swept away several houses leaving people stranded and forcing them to evacuate.
The concerned authorities have ordered rescue and relief operations but many people are feared missing. Authorities have instructed stranded people to go to rooftops in order to make rescue helicopters spot them.
Maharashtra has recorded its heaviest spell of rain in decades.
Although there are several factors contributing to the flooding, but scientists term climate change as one of the major causes triggering heavy rains and landslides.
In Mumbai alone, at least 38 people died when a landslide flattened a small village to the south-east of the city.
In Mumbai, two people died and 10 others were injured after a residential building collapsed in a region of the city on Friday.
Train services have been suspended and the city's low-lying areas have turned into flood zones. Weather department has warned that the spell of rain is likely to continue over the next few days.
