Both sides agree to strengthen mutual cooperation in managing the border and combating terrorism

Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a significant meeting with his Afghan counterpart Sirajuddin Haqqani in Kabul, where both sides discussed key issues including counter-terrorism, border security, and the banned outfit Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
During the meeting in the Afghan capital, the two interior ministers exchanged views on bilateral relations, with a focus on tackling terrorism, cross-border infiltration, and coordinated efforts to curb the activities of the TTP.
They also discussed effective management of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, ways to curb drug trafficking, and mechanisms for regulating cross-border movement.
Both ministers talked about the repatriation process of Afghan nationals illegally residing in Pakistan, while stressing the need for peaceful coexistence, stability, and cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
The two sides agreed to strengthen mutual cooperation in managing the border and combating terrorism.
During the discussions, Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that terrorist organizations are a source of chaos and instability and must be jointly countered. He added that Pakistan seeks brotherly and long-term relations with Afghanistan.
Naqvi also highlighted Pakistan’s decades-long hospitality towards millions of Afghan refugees, reiterating that legal avenues remain open for Afghan nationals to enter Pakistan.
Earlier, upon his arrival in Kabul for the one-day visit, Deputy Afghan Interior Minister Maulvi Muhammad Nabi Omari received Minister Naqvi warmly. At the Afghan Ministry of Interior, Sirajuddin Haqqani officially welcomed the Pakistani delegation.
Minister Naqvi was accompanied by Special Representative Muhammad Sadiq and the Interior Secretary of Pakistan.
