Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Asad Umar has said that Pakistan has successfully vaccinated 25 million people against coronavirus.

Taking to Twitter, Asad Umar, who also heads National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), said that aside from vaccinating 25 million people (2.5 crores), the government is devising measures to vaccinate more people in the coming month.

"Further acceleration being planned for August. By end of August, all major cities' target is to have at least 40% of the eligible population vaccinated," he wrote.

Pakistan's coronavirus tally Sunday reached 1,004,694 with the detection of 2,819 new cases in the last 24 hours, with authorities linking the uptick in numbers to the fourth wave of the deadly outbreak across the country.

According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 2,819 cases of coronavirus were reported while 45 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 23,016.

The total number of confirmed cases reached to 1,004,694.

As many as 925,958 patients have recovered from the disease with 2,573 critical cases.
