(Web Desk): A case has been registered in connection with the discovery of donkey meat in Islamabad.
According to the report, the FIR was filed at Sangjani Police Station on behalf of an Assistant Food Safety Officer.
The FIR states that information was received regarding the sale of donkey meat in Islamabad. A raid was conducted with police assistance, during which 25 maunds (approximately 1,000 kg) of donkey meat was recovered. Additionally, around 45 live donkeys were found at the farmhouse.
As per the FIR, no official documentation or permits for the transport or sale of donkey meat were found at the site. A Chinese-looking individual was present at the location.
This individual claimed that the owner of the farmhouse is Jiang Liang, who currently resides in China. A total of 1,000 kilograms of donkey meat was seized from the scene and subsequently destroyed.
However, authorities have yet to determine where the meat was intended to be supplied — whether within Pakistan or for export to another country.
The arrested person was identified as a Chinese national, who had entered Pakistan on June 23 on a 90-day visa.
According to police sources, the Chinese national is illiterate and does not understand English. He was caught handling donkey meat and was presented before a magistrate.
The Islamabad magistrate has sent the arrested Chinese citizen to jail on judicial remand.
