Kabul: The Taliban government of Afghanistan has announced that over 3,000 Afghan citizens will be employed in Qatar.
According to a foreign news agency, Taliban officials this month announced an agreement with the Gulf state of Qatar under which 3,100 Afghan laborers will be recruited for jobs in Qatar.
According to the report, the spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Ministry of Labor, Samiullah Ebrahimi, said that the application process began on Tuesday at centers established across the country.
Samiullah Ebrahimi stated that by Wednesday, over 8,500 individuals from Kabul and its surrounding provinces had registered, and it is expected that more than 15,500 people from across the country will complete their registration.
According to the report, around 1,000 people from the southern city of Kandahar and nearly 2,000 applicants from Herat have submitted their applications.
The Taliban government says that these job opportunities will help in the fight against severe poverty and unemployment in the country.
