Two main suspects in Chuhang gang rape killed in police encounter

(Web Desk): The two main suspects in the horrific gang rape of a woman in the Chuhang area were killed in a police encounter, while a search for their accomplices is ongoing.

According to details, a citizen and his wife were taking a walk in the fields in Lahore's Chuhang area when they were stopped by four suspects. The men then gang-raped the woman in front of her husband. A case was registered at the Chuhang police station on the complaint of the victim's husband.

Based on the victim's statement, three suspects, aged between 18 and 28, initially raped the woman, and then called another person to the scene.

Given the seriousness of the incident, the Crime Control Department (CCD) took immediate action and raided the location to arrest the suspects. The suspects opened fire on the police team. In the retaliatory fire, two main suspects, Awais and Shahzad, were killed on the spot.

According to a police spokesperson, one police officer was also injured in the exchange of fire, but his life was saved due to his bulletproof jacket. Weapons and other evidence were seized from the crime scene.

Police say that the search for the other absconding suspects is ongoing, and the Chuhang and surrounding areas have been sealed off to prevent anyone from escaping.

The Chief Minister of Punjab and the Inspector General of Police have taken notice of the incident and have directed the CCPO Lahore to provide justice to the affected family after a full investigation.
