Rainfall is expected in most districts of Punjab over the next 24 hours

Islamabad: Following heavy overnight rainfall in the Margalla Hills, stormwater drains in Islamabad overflowed, causing floodwaters to enter residential areas.
In New Chatta Bakhtawar and New Mal Sharqi, the overflowing drains led to water surging into homes, sweeping away household items and furniture. Residents were left stranded inside their homes, while vehicles were also trapped in the water.
In addition, floodwaters entered homes in Bhara Kahu, Sawan, and PHA Flats as well.
On the other hand, the rising water levels in storm drains also damaged the protective embankments of the Kari Gaon Bridge. Livestock and household belongings were swept away, and dairy farms in rural areas were severely affected. Rescue operations are currently underway in the rain-affected areas.
According to a PDMA (Provincial Disaster Management Authority) spokesperson, rainfall is expected in most districts of Punjab over the next 24 hours, and the sixth spell of monsoon rains is likely to continue until August 7.
