(Web Desk): Due to Independence Day and Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA) falling in the same week this August, there is a possibility of a four-day holiday across Pakistan.

According to reports, August 14 will be a public holiday nationwide to mark Independence Day, which is celebrated annually with great enthusiasm. The government has announced a full program of flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural events, parades, and tributes to the heroes of the independence movement.

Although August 15 (Chehlum) is not a public holiday on the federal calendar, provincial governments may declare it a local holiday.

Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA) will be observed on August 15 with religious devotion and respect. Across the country, majalis (gatherings), mourning processions, and other religious events will be held to pay tribute to the martyrs of Karbala.

If a holiday is granted for Chehlum, it would result in continuous holidays from August 14 to 17 (Thursday to Sunday). Last year as well, Karachi and Rawalpindi declared local holidays on Chehlum.

Following these two potential holidays, August 16 (Saturday) and August 17 (Sunday) fall on the weekend, giving students, teachers, and employees across Pakistan the opportunity to enjoy four consecutive days off.
