2,300 houses have been completely destroyed, while 413 homes have sustained partial damage

(Web Desk): The district administration of Buner in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa released a report on Sunday detailing the devastation caused by cloudbursts and flash floods, stating that the death toll has surpassed 400.
According to Deputy Commissioner (DC) Buner, Kashif Qayyum, the catastrophic floods have wreaked widespread havoc across the district, resulting in the deaths of 401 people and injuries to 671 others.
In a media briefing, the DC described the extent of the destruction as unprecedented, confirming the loss of 4,054 livestock in addition to the human toll.
The official report stated that 2,300 houses have been completely destroyed, while 413 homes have sustained partial damage. The education sector also suffered significant loss, with six government schools being washed away.
Law enforcement and public services were not spared either — two police stations were swept away, 639 vehicles were destroyed, 127 shops were completely obliterated, and 824 shops suffered partial damage.
The DC confirmed that two major bridges were completely washed away, while four others sustained partial damage. Additionally, three government hospitals were partially damaged, impacting healthcare services in the region.
Despite the challenges, the DC affirmed that rescue and relief efforts are ongoing. “Our teams are working around the clock to provide immediate assistance, but the scale of devastation is massive, and recovery will take time,” he stated.
The Pakistan Army is playing an active role in assisting flood-affected districts across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Army rescue operations are underway in various parts of Buner, including the village of Chorak.
Rescue teams are also working to recover individuals trapped under debris in Adam Khel, where homes were destroyed. Relief efforts continue with the distribution of food rations and bedding to affected families.
Despite adverse weather, Army helicopters are actively participating in rescue and relief missions. Locals have expressed satisfaction with the relief efforts and extended their gratitude to the Pakistan Army for its support.
