A request has been submitted to the NEPRA to reduce electricity prices by Rs1.69 per unit

Karachi: There is a possibility of a reduction in electricity prices across the country, including Karachi, under the head of monthly fuel cost adjustment.
According to sources, a request has been submitted to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to reduce electricity prices by Rs1.69 per unit.
Sources further stated that the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has filed the adjustment request for July 2025 with NEPRA. The Power Division has also sent policy guidelines regarding the uniform tariff to NEPRA on behalf of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).
According to sources, under the ECC policy guidelines, the monthly adjustment will also be applicable to K-Electric. NEPRA will conduct a hearing on CPPA's request on August 28.
Sources added that NEPRA will also review the ECC's policy guidelines regarding the uniform tariff.
It is worth noting that the ECC had approved the implementation of a uniform fuel charges adjustment across the country. The Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee approved the Power Division's summary on August 19.
Under the ECC decision, monthly electricity price adjustments will now be applied uniformly nationwide.
