Famous Indian actor arrested for raping woman

Indian TV actor Ashish Kapoor has been arrested on charges of raping a woman.

According to Indian media, New Delhi police arrested actor Ashish Kapoor on Wednesday on charges of rape. He is accused of sexually harassing a woman inside a washroom during a party last month.

According to police, Ashish Kapoor met the woman on Instagram, after which he invited her to a party at a friend's house, where the incident is claimed to have taken place.

In the FIR, the woman initially named actor Ashish, his friend, the friend's wife, and two unknown persons, but later the woman changed her statement and said that the rape was committed only by Ashish Kapoor.

According to Indian media, the woman also alleged that the incident was videotaped, but no such footage was available to the police.

Police say the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

It is pertinent to note that Ashish Kapoor is a well-known actor on Indian television and has worked in many popular dramas, including Love Marriage or Arrange Marriage, Dekha Ek Khawab, Chand Chupa Badal Mein, etc.
