Islamabad: A rare and awe-inspiring total lunar eclipse, also known as a "Blood Moon," will be visible across Pakistan on the night of September 7-8, 2025. The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has announced that the eclipse will begin at 8:28 p.m. PST, with the partial eclipse starting at 9:27 p.m. and the total eclipse phase commencing at 10:31 p.m.
Eclipse Timeline:
Penumbral Eclipse Begins: 8:28 p.m. PST (September 7)
Partial Eclipse Starts: 9:27 p.m. PST
Total Eclipse Begins: 10:31 p.m. PST
Maximum Eclipse: 11:12 p.m. PST
Total Eclipse Ends: 11:53 p.m. PST

During the eclipse, the Moon will pass through the Earth's shadow, taking on a reddish-orange hue due to sunlight filtering through the atmosphere. This phenomenon makes the Moon appear like a "Blood Moon." The eclipse will be visible in Asia, Africa, and parts of Europe, with clear visibility expected in most regions of Pakistan, weather permitting.

This lunar eclipse offers a rare opportunity for astronomy enthusiasts, students, and the general public to connect with science and explore the wonders of the universe. SUPARCO encourages the public to observe the event and participate in educational activities.
