Debt increased by 13 percent in fiscal year 2025

Karachi: The country’s debt and liabilities have reached a new high in the country’s history.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has released data on the country’s debt and liabilities as of June 2025.
According to data, the federal government’s debt increased by 13 percent in the fiscal year 2025.
The federal government’s debt stood at Rs77,888 billion as of June 2025, compared to Rs68,914 billion in June 2024.
According to data released by the State Bank, the federal government’s internal debt has increased by 15.5 percent to Rs54,471 billion and the government’s external debt has increased by 7.6 percent to Rs23,417 billion.
