Federal govt considers waiving taxes on electricity bills for flood-hit citizens
Govt is considering removing GST, FC surcharge, and fixed charges from the electricity bills of flood-affected citizens

(Web Desk): The federal government has decided to provide relief in electricity bills for those affected by the recent floods.
According to sources, the government is considering removing General Sales Tax (GST), Fuel Cost (FC) surcharge, and fixed charges from the electricity bills of flood-affected citizens.
Proposals are also under consideration to eliminate GST and excise duty on fuel price adjustment, along with waiving income tax, additional taxes, extra charges, and retailer sales tax on electricity bills.
It is worth noting that large-scale flooding in Punjab has severely impacted agricultural land and displaced millions of people.
Just a day earlier, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had also called on the government to declare an agricultural emergency and waive electricity bills for farmers.
