PMD releases Karachi rainfall data; DHA Phase 7 tops chart

Karachi: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has released the latest rainfall data for Karachi, revealing that the highest amount of rain was recorded in DHA Phase 7.

According to the PMD, the data covers rainfall between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. During this period, DHA Phase 7 received the heaviest downpour.

Rainfall recorded in other areas included 18mm at Masroor Base, 15mm in Keamari and Korangi, 16mm in Gulshan-e-Maymar, and 13mm in Surjani.

In North Karachi, 12mm of rain was recorded, while Orangi Town saw 8mm. Saadi Town and Shahrah-e-Faisal recorded 7mm, and 5mm was recorded in Nazimabad and Gulshan-e-Hadeed.

The PMD reported 9mm of rain around University Road and the airport area, 4mm at Jinnah Terminal, and 2mm in Bahria Town.

It’s worth noting that Karachi has been experiencing intermittent rainfall since yesterday, which continued throughout the night with varying intensities across different areas.

Rainfall was also observed in Shahrah-e-Faisal, Shah Faisal Colony, II Chundrigar Road, Lyari, Garden, Saddar, and MA Jinnah Road.

Other areas that received significant rain included Gulshan-e-Maymar, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Sohrab Goth, FB Area, Nazimabad, North Karachi, and Nagan Chowrangi, as well as Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Malir, Tariq Road, Orangi Town, Baldia, and Buffer Zone.

Tragically, at least three people lost their lives in separate incidents during the rainfall.
