Sialkot and Narowal have suffered significant destruction due to heavy rains

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Climate Change, Mussadiq Malik, has revealed that the death toll due to rains and flooding in the country has risen to 900.
This revelation was made during a joint press briefing with the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). Mussadiq Malik stated that climate change is transforming the world, and in response to the growing challenges, the Prime Minister has declared a climate emergency.
The minister emphasized that Pakistan is among the countries most severely affected by climate change, and said that preparations for the next monsoon season must begin immediately.
He also highlighted that charitable and private organizations are playing a commendable role in flood-affected areas, working with great dedication. He specifically mentioned that Sialkot and Narowal have suffered significant destruction due to heavy rains.
Mussadiq Malik stated that the federal government and NDMA, in coordination with the provincial government, have made advance preparations to deal with flooding in Sindh, and expressed hope that major losses will be avoided.
The minister further added that the governments of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir stand in solidarity with the people, and that all institutions must work together for a better future for children.
