This news was confirmed by the officials on Thursday morning in Japan.

The authorities released an official statement, "In alignment with local rules and protocols, he has been transferred to a hotel to be placed in isolation and is being supported by the USATF and USOPC staff’’.

"Sam is an incredible and accomplished member of Team USA and his presence will be missed. Out of respect for his privacy, we cannot provide more information at this time."

The 28-year-old athlete is a US Army reservist who won bronze at the Rio 2016 Olympics, has been place in isolation at a hotel.

As per reports the pole-vaulter COVID-19 test, the Australian Athletics Team has also been isolated, but it has not been confirmed if the American athletic team was isolated.

The directors are practicing necessary preventive measures to limit the spread; they have made testing after a certain period of time mandatory, followed by the compulsion of wearing masks.

Sam Kendricks won bronze in 2016 Rio and was a favorite to medal again in Tokyo.

Even though Kendricks is the reigning world champion, Sweden's Mondo Duplantis has since broken the world record.
