Further investigation is underway


Karachi: A young child was killed in a shooting incident in the Manghopir area, and police have taken a security guard into custody in connection with the firing.
The incident occurred near Haji Malik Goth Water Board in Manghopir, where a child lost his life due to gunfire. Police, with the help of Edhi volunteers, transferred the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital after completing legal formalities. The deceased was identified as 5-year-old Ayan, son of Waheed Nawaz. He sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.
Manghopir SHO Zubair Nawaz stated that, according to initial information, the bullet was fired from the weapon of a security guard stationed at a Water Board hydrant near the scene. Ayan, who was playing in the street at the time, was hit by the stray bullet. The police have arrested the security guard, Shahzoor, and seized a 222 rifle.
A case will be registered by Ayan’s family, but it has not yet been determined whether the firing was accidental or deliberate. Further investigation is underway.
After completing necessary legal procedures, the police handed over the child’s body to the family.
