(Web Desk): Late Thursday night, tremors were felt across parts of Punjab after a 3.8-magnitude earthquake struck near Jaranwala, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). The quake occurred at 11:56 PM, with a depth of 40 kilometers and its epicentre located 16 kilometers south of Jaranwala. Residents reported rushing outdoors in fear as panic briefly spread through affected areas.
This was the second earthquake to hit Punjab this week and the third recorded this month.
Earlier in the week, another earthquake was reported across various parts of Punjab, including Multan. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) confirmed the tremor measured 4.8 on the Richter scale, with an epicentre located 126 kilometers west of Multan at a depth of 55 kilometers.
Following both events, Director General of PDMA stated that inspection teams were dispatched across Punjab to assess building safety. He added that the PDMA’s Provincial Control Room and all District Emergency Operation Centres remain on 24/7 alert to respond to any emergencies.
