Rawalpindi: The cervical cancer vaccination campaign for girls across the Rawalpindi district has been 77.71% completed, according to the District Health Department.
The HPV vaccination was administered to girls aged 9 to 14 years, as a one-time vaccine that can protect women from the life-threatening cervical cancer.
Health Department sources revealed that 88,188 girls remained unvaccinated during the campaign, which concluded on September 27. The target was to vaccinate 395,609 girls, out of which 307,421 received the vaccine.
The reasons cited for the missed vaccinations include parental refusal, unavailability, and illness. The HPV vaccination campaign officially ended on September 27.
