OpenAI set to launch AI-only social media app with Sora 2
Unlike traditional platforms, the content on the app will be entirely AI-generated

(Web Desk): OpenAI, best known for its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot ChatGPT, is now set to take on social media platforms.
According to a report by Wired, OpenAI is planning to launch a social media app alongside its new Sora 2 video model.
The report says the app will resemble TikTok in many ways — featuring a vertical video feed with scrolling from top to bottom.
However, unlike traditional platforms, the content on the app will be entirely AI-generated.
This means users won’t be able to upload photos or videos from their phone’s camera roll.
The report also reveals that OpenAI will limit video clips created within the app to just 10 seconds using Sora 2.
It remains unclear whether longer videos can be created outside the app using Sora 2.
For reference, TikTok initially allowed videos up to 15 seconds, but that limit has since been extended to 10 minutes.
OpenAI’s new app will also include an identity verification tool.
When users activate this feature, Sora 2 will indicate whether similar videos already exist.
The report further notes that the software may refuse to generate certain videos due to copyright restrictions, although how this will be implemented remains unclear.
Lastly, the report adds that OpenAI hopes the popularity of Sora will encourage users to try out its other AI models as well.
