Tournament kicks off October 6

Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the schedule for the country’s premier domestic tournament, the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, which will begin on October 6.
The four-day first-class tournament will be played in Peshawar, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Abbottabad, featuring 10 regional teams: Defending champions Sialkot, Runners-up Peshawar, Abbottabad, Bahawalpur, FATA, Faisalabad, Islamabad, Karachi Blues, Lahore Whites and Multan.
After nine rounds, the top two teams will compete in the final from November 29 to December 3.
First Round (October 6–9) Fixtures:
Abbottabad vs Bahawalpur at Abbottabad Cricket Club
Lahore Whites vs Islamabad at Shoaib Akhtar Stadium, Rawalpindi
Peshawar vs Sialkot at Imran Khan Stadium, Peshawar
FATA vs Multan at Diamond Cricket Ground, Islamabad
Faisalabad vs Karachi Blues at Margazar Cricket Ground, Islamabad
It’s important to note that six teams — FATA, Peshawar, Lahore Whites, Abbottabad, Sialkot, and Bahawalpur — had already secured spots in the tournament based on their performances. However, PCB Chairman Mohsin Raza later decided to allow four teams (instead of two) from the Hanif Mohammad Trophy to qualify for the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, based on points.
Teams qualifying through the Hanif Mohammad Trophy:
FATA – 108 points
Karachi Blues – 96 points
Faisalabad – 87 points
Multan – 86 points
Earlier, the PCB had reduced the number of teams in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy from 18 to 8, which meant that even Karachi’s two historically successful teams (with a combined 21 titles) had to re-qualify through the Hanif Mohammad Trophy.
