Hamas demands amendments to Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace plan

(Web Desk): The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has demanded amendments to US President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan for Gaza.

According to a Palestinian source close to Hamas leadership, in an interview with a foreign news agency, Hamas is calling for changes to the clause that requires the group to disarm.

As per the foreign news agency, Hamas negotiators held talks yesterday in Doha with Turkish, Egyptian, and Qatari officials.

Palestinian sources said Hamas wants to amend certain clauses of the plan. The group is seeking full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and international guarantees that its leaders will not be assassinated inside or outside of Palestine.

Sources also stated that Hamas would need two or three days at most to provide a formal response.

It is worth noting that U.S. President Donald Trump had presented a 20-point peace plan for Gaza and warned Hamas of serious consequences if it refused to accept the deal.

Key Points of Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan

Under the agreement, Hamas fighters are to be fully disarmed and will have no role in any future government.

However, those members who agree to “peaceful coexistence” will be granted general amnesty.

According to the plan, Israel will gradually withdraw from Gaza after nearly two years of ongoing conflict.

Yet, in a video statement released after a joint press conference with Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the military would remain in most parts of Gaza and confirmed that no agreement had been reached on the establishment of a Palestinian state during the talks in Washington.
