Punjab braces for rainfall, PDMA alerts all districts

Lahore: Western winds have entered the upper regions of Punjab, prompting forecasts of rainfall across the province starting today.

The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a rain alert for the entire province.

According to the PDMA spokesperson, rainfall is expected in most districts of Punjab from tonight until October 7. There is a risk of increased water flow in rivers and streams in the upper regions due to the rain.

Rain has been forecasted in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Wazirabad. Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Jhang, Nankana Sahib, and Toba Tek Singh are also expected to receive rain.

Additionally, thunderstorm-related rain is predicted in Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan until October 6.

Due to rainfall in Murree, Galiyat, and Rawalpindi, there is a likelihood of increased water flow in streams and drainage channels.

PDMA Punjab has issued alerts to all Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners across the province. Alerts have also been issued to the Local Government, Agriculture Department, Irrigation Department, Health Department, Forest Department, Livestock Department, and the Transport Department.

Citizens are urged to fully cooperate with district administrations and rescue services, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow the guidelines issued by PDMA. In case of emergency, contact the PDMA helpline at 1129.
