Taifi Butt arrested in murder case of Amir Balaj Tipu in Dubai

Dubai (Monitoring Desk): The principal accused and proclaimed offender, Taifi Butt, involved in the murder case of Amir Balaj Tipu, son of Tipu Truckanwala in Lahore, has been arrested in Dubai with the help of Interpol.

The accused’s name is Khawaja Tareef Butt, also known as Taifi Butt, who had been wanted by the police since the murder of Amir Balaj. He was taken into custody in Dubai with Interpol’s assistance.

Sources say that after completing legal formalities, Taifi Butt will soon be extradited to Pakistan.

It is worth noting that in August 2024, the main accused in the murder case of Amir Balaj Tipu, Ahsan Shah, was reportedly killed in a police encounter.

The DSP of the Organized Crime Unit had stated that Ahsan Shah was injured by gunfire from his own associates and was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

According to the police, Ahsan Shah was being taken for identification when his brother, along with unknown accomplices, launched an attack to free him. During the alleged encounter, Ahsan Shah was wounded and later died from his injuries.

Amir Balaj Tipu was shot dead on February 18, 2024, at a wedding ceremony.

According to Lahore Police, Amir Balaj Tipu, son of Tipu Truckanwala, was attending the wedding of the son of former DSP Akbar Iqbal Baloch in a private housing society near Thokar Niaz Baig.

During the ceremony, an attacker opened fire, injuring Amir Balaj Tipu and two others, who were taken to the hospital.

Police confirmed that Amir Balaj Tipu succumbed to his injuries, while the attacker was shot dead on the spot by the victim’s guards.

It is also noted that in September 2025, a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report revealed that Gogi Butt had planned the murder of Amir Balaj Tipu.

According to JIT sources, Khawaja Aqeel, alias Gogi Butt, was in contact with the main accused Taifi Butt in the Amir Balaj murder case. Gogi Butt has also been named in previous murder cases involving the Tipu family.

Sources added that the JIT will request the cancellation of Gogi Butt’s bail in the next court hearing.

After Amir Balaj’s murder, Khawaja Aqeel, aka Gogi Butt, fled but later obtained bail and currently remains on interim bail until September 15. Meanwhile, Taifi Butt remained a proclaimed offender until today, when he was apprehended in Dubai and steps have been initiated to transfer him to Pakistan.
