Under new law, penalties for illegal logging, encroachment on forest land, and environmental crimes have been significantly enhanced

Lahore: The Punjab government has enforced the Forest (Amendment) Act 2025 to strengthen forest protection and ensure sustainable management of natural resources.
Under the new law, penalties for illegal logging, encroachment on forest land, and environmental crimes have been significantly enhanced, while monitoring, enforcement, and transparency mechanisms have been improved.
The amended act emphasises the use of modern technology, community participation, and large-scale forest restoration and expansion.
Officials say this landmark initiative will reinforce environmental conservation, help combat climate change, protect biodiversity, and secure a greener future for coming generations.
