PM Shehbaz Sharif Reaffirms Commitment to "One China" Policy in Meeting with Chinese vice minister
PM reiterated his invitation to Xi Jinping to visit Pakistan officially this year, as the year holds special significance and a milestone for both countries.


Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during a meeting with the Vice Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China, Sun Haiyan, reiterated Pakistan's unwavering commitment to its "One China" policy.
According to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting took place at the Prime Minister's House, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the Chinese guest and their delegation, stating that this visit is happening at a very significant time, as Pakistan and China are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif mentioned that the year had begun with the successful visit of Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to Beijing, followed by the Interior Minister’s visit to Shanghai. Moreover, in the coming days, a visit by the Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly to China is also expected.
The Prime Minister extended his best wishes to President Xi Jinping and Chinese leadership, affirming the strong, steel-like strategic partnership between Pakistan and China, and emphasized that Pakistan's relationship with China will remain unshakeable under any circumstances. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm commitment to the "One China" policy.
Discussing economic cooperation, the Prime Minister appreciated China's generous assistance to Pakistan, particularly under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and emphasized the need for timely and effective implementation of the next phase of CPEC.
During the meeting, he also reiterated his invitation to President Xi Jinping to visit Pakistan officially this year, as the year holds special significance and is a milestone for both countries.
The Chinese Vice Minister thanked the Prime Minister and expressed China’s commitment to further strengthen its long-term and tested relations with Pakistan across all sectors. She congratulated the Prime Minister for bringing political and economic stability to the country and stated that the Chinese people take pride in Pakistan’s diplomatic successes.
The distinguished Chinese guest also informed the Prime Minister that the Communist Party of China has established excellent relations with Pakistan’s various political parties. She praised the Prime Minister’s leadership role in uniting political forces for better governance.
The Chinese Vice Minister emphasized the importance of inter-party relations and expressed the Communist Party of China’s strong determination to further strengthen cooperation with Pakistan's political parties through inter-party mechanisms.
