Web Desk: National cricket team captain Salman Ali Agha has said that Babar Azam’s performance should not be questioned, stressing that he is fulfilling his role effectively.
Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Salman Ali Agha said the team plays aggressive cricket whenever conditions allow, adding that the T20 series against Australia is crucial preparation for the World Cup.
He noted that in T20 cricket there is no such thing as a big or small team. “In Sharjah, Afghanistan were being described as the second-best team, and we defeated them. In Pakistan, however, if we win, the opposing team is labeled weak,” he remarked.
Responding to a journalist’s question about Babar Azam’s form, the captain said questions should also be asked about other players. “Leave him alone and let him play. There are 14 other players in the team—talk about them as well. Babar Azam is performing his role well, and what happened in the Big Bash League does not concern us,” he said.
Salman Ali Agha further stated that every player is clear about his role and there is no cause for concern. He emphasized the importance of playing according to the team’s needs and the required run rate during a match. He added that efforts have been made to prepare pitches similar to those in Sri Lanka, and if all players perform to their potential, the team can win the series.
The national team captain also expressed hope that Gaddafi Stadium would be full, urging fans to turn up and support the team. He said experienced players handle high-pressure games better and noted that the Australian side remains strong despite the absence of a few players.
