Acclaimed K-pop band BTS has been nominated for a total of five awards at the '2021 MTV Video Music Awards' (2021 MTV VMA).

The nominations were announced early this morning and it came as no surprise that the band earned a total of five nods.

Following this, BTS tied with Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Drake, Giveon, Lil Nas X and Olivia Rodrigo, who also earned five nominations of different award categories, including 'Song of the Year', 'Best Pop', 'Best K-pop', 'Best Choreography', and 'Best Editing'.

The band comprising of members Jin, Jimin, V, JungKook, J-Hope, SUGA and RM, earned Song Of The Year for 'Dynamite' while the other four nods are for 'Butter' that includes, Best Pop, Best K-Pop, Best Choreography and Best Editing.

The MTV VMA is a prestigious music awards ceremony held in the United States (US), and the award winners will be announced for about 20 different categories.

The different award categories include 'Video of the Year', 'Song of the Year', 'Best Collaboration', and more. Nominees for 'Best Group' and 'Song of Summer' are scheduled to be announced soon as well.

Meanwhile, Canadian singer Justin Bieber received seven nominations, including artist of the year, best pop song for 'Peaches', and video of the year for 'Popstar', his collaboration with DJ Khaled and Drake.

In 2020, the VMAs were filmed without a live audience and with most of the performances recorded in advance because of health guidelines due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

This year's the '2021 MTV VMA' will be held at the Barclays Center in New York City— broadcasting live through the MTV channel. Winners will be chosen by fans who will vote online.
