Officials say based on Excise and Taxation records, the subsidy will be directly transferred into bank accounts linked to the relevant national identity cards

Islamabad: A mechanism has been finalised for providing targeted subsidies on petrol to citizens.
According to officials from the Ministry of IT, there will be no dedicated app for distributing the subsidy, nor will petrol be rationed. Instead, data is being collected from Excise and Taxation offices, and payment information is being forwarded to the State Bank for disbursement.
Officials further stated that, based on Excise and Taxation records, the subsidy will be directly transferred into bank accounts linked to the relevant national identity cards.
They also noted that digital wallets have already begun processing payments. The Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, had directed that all provinces follow a uniform policy.
However, measures related to motorcycles and farmers will be handled directly by the provinces, while actions concerning the transport sector—including trucks, buses, and other large vehicles—will be implemented at the national level.
According to the Ministry of IT, nationwide measures will also apply to Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir.
